ylstaffer
And how about for a 96?
erikv11
And how about for a 96?it's been posted 10 bajillion times. for a 96 you need a special tool. dealer has it (VST) and so do most shops, or there are a few you can buy yourself (e.g. search for Draper reset tool).or you can take out the bulb, best fix of all. that light is worthless if you are already paying attention to your car. Andru365
or you can take out the bulb, best fix of all.How exactly would I go about taking the bulb out? Do I need to remove the dash pas to get access to the instrument cluster?
ylstaffer
Sorry for the 10 bajillion + 1 post, I tried a search and everything I saw was for 95 and earlier. But at least I know now, thanks. <_<
ylstaffer
Yep Andru, you hafta remove the dash pad to get to the instrument cluster. There are a bunch of screws holding that sucker down, some hidden from sight (like in the AC vents). The best deal is to get a repair manual, but I think I saw a pinned post in here somewhere that explains how to take it off as well. Once the pad is out of the way the cluster comes out really easily. I may just go ahead and do that myself.
erikv11
How exactly would I go about taking the bulb out? Do I need to remove the dash pas to get access to the instrument cluster?I took the bulb out by removing the cluster. But I have read several posts (Underlord has posted it I know) where they talked about reaching up from under the dash (must remove the knee bolster) to remove this bulb, and that sounds a lot easier. There is definitely a pinned thread or repair guide here for removing the dash, if you want to go that way.
