So the skid plate replaces the air guide? (Plastic piece)

No, it's different than the air guide...I believe it goes behind it.

on the s80 there is a plastic cover that needs to be taken off every time to get to the canister and plug. I believe on the s70, the cover does not prevent you from getting to the plug or filter.

I'm not talking about the S70...I have one of those too, but I'm talking about the V70 ('04). There is suppose to be a plastic plate that you have to take off for this car too, but the skid plate takes its place and has cut outs so you don't have to remove it to take care of these things.

  • 2 weeks later...

Okay, I got it installed today. The reason I waited so long was because it was soo damn cold.

Finally up to 45degrees today. Anyway, I didn't use the white spacers in the front but the one on the side that is suppose to use the real long one (too long), I used 2 of the small ones stacked together. Then I used a spanner with the brass colored disc and nut taped to it to go in the frame. This way I could see up through the skidplate hole and put a bolt right up through the hole and thread it. This worked very nicely and I didn't need 10 inch fingers. So if anyone is dealing with this, try taping the nut and disc that goes inside the frame (small opening) onto a spanner and it will work fine. It also helps to have the right 14 and 16mm spanner and socket (bolt head is smaller than the nut that goes on it).... B)

good work man! if i get around to doing the S70 i'll remember that.

Again, S70 is different   It's actually straight forward and a piece of cake. I guess my picture (signature) confuses everyone. I was talking about the skidplate install on my wife's '04 V70. It's another story.

Any pics of it installed? I'm thinking about getting one for when the car gets lowered

I'll grab a picture of it tomorrow and post it. My only suggestion for design is that they made the rear longer...just a couple of more inches on each side and they would have bolted right into 2 screw holes, rather than the method they give you to attach it to the frame. Anyway, it looks much more robust than the S70 plate.
