64pvolvo1800
So I see on Swedespeed that it looks like VCoA will be there and I see some VS'ers will be there, never been over to TB site and don't care to go there yet. I'm curious though, what is carlisle all about? Imports in general? Is there a Volvo club section? I've checked out the Carlisle website for info and it looks like it's more of a general import car gettogether than specific clubs or brands. What is the best approach to enjoying the experience? I'm already planning on going and hoping to have my 64 1800 back together for the trip. I'm coming in early Friday morning and leaving early Sunday most likely. Any helpful words of wisdom from those who have been before me?
Mesoam
Carlisle is actually a town in Penn. "Cars At Carlisle" goes on for a while each weekend featuring a different gathering of sorts (GM, ford, e/t/c)http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/The weekend we go is the import/replicar. The hondas and related have been banned because a hand full of douche bags ruined it for their whole group. Its a large event covering a fairground, theres a swap meet area, food stand, auto X e/t/c...Point blank a good time
ThePOWERtoRULE
There's been rumour of a joint VS TB thing, but I haven't heard much about it in the last couple days...

towerymt
look through the galleries at swedespeed to see what sort of cars show up. one word: everythingcarlisle is a casual show...not judged, just a show & shine type of event. 64pvolvo1800
look through the galleries at swedespeed to see what sort of cars show up. one word: everythingcarlisle is a casual show...not judged, just a show & shine type of event.Excellent suggestion, TY. It looks like there is a little of everything I want to see. In reading through the Carlisle site it looked like they didn't allow "parts for sale" on the grounds but the old pictures contradict that. Also, reading through the rules at Carlisle, I'm a little fuzzy on whether you can camp and rent a space for camping without actually "showing" a car. Can anybody clarify this? I still don't know (doubt) if the 1800 will be ready for the trip and yet I might like to camp there anyway.

gdizzle
volvospeed/turbobricks.... we need a tent this year so Travis & don't get smoked in the sun...Even though we pull more cars than VCOA, VCOA will always get the tent. Why? I have no idea. So, we need to bring our own tent. VCOA can suck it. Also, everyone register as volvospeed.com/turbobricks.com. Chuck, myself, and Dana from TB are working on getting a tent and banners made so we can escape the sun and chill.

TM850R
I registered today under volvospeed/turbobricks. Hopefully others have been doing the same. There is a Comfort Inn about 15 miles from the fairgrounds that has some decent rates on rooms at the time. If you are booking a hotel room, shop around wisely, many times the rooms are more expensive through Priceline or Hotels.com. Just some helpful hints from the hotel industry.
