FixerUpper
Are you sure you need a head gasket? Also, this needs to be in the RWD forums, please
Three Fat Tigers
Uh, well while I know this is a RWD car, why move this thread in here? After all it is a white block, the procedure (an alien technology and currently something unbeknownst to me) is the same as for any of the 5 clyinder cars, isn't it?Plus I think you need some expensive specliazed tools to R&R the head.To get a better idea what you are looking at, I'd either start by looking through an Haynes manual for the 850, or buy a shop manual from Volvo:https://www.volvotechinfo.com/index.cfm?eve...s=service,partsTP2103201 $27.90This will have the procedure and a description of the special tools required. A blown head gasket might well mean more than just replacing the gasket.
Ronny
Didn't know they still made them (960) in '97. Are these the "premium" models I hear about with those nasty 6 cylinder engines?
Three Fat Tigers
'97 was a transition year, it was the last year for the 960. During that same model year it was replaced by an entirely new model, the S90 (V90) where Volvo when to great lengths to redesign the badge on the trunk lid.
