smokin' T5M
PS. If it matters, get a set made and check resistance over length? maybe builder will test a set for us? T.Here's a brief synopsis of the resistance of wire wound (Mag Wire) conductors. The conductor is a copper / nickel alloy (solid metal) spherically wrapped around strands of Kevlar. It is then coated with a latex (which is also conductive) that helps to hold the windings in place. With this type of wire the resistance is consistent regardless of the length of the wire. The wire we are using is 100 ohms per foot (+ or - 10%). You are getting differing measurements because you are reading through the latex which is 3000 to 7000 ohms per foot. For our lab testing procedures we use a frequency generator to apply the equivalent of 40,000 volts to our test wires. This "burns" through the latex and resistance settles at 100 ohms per foot. In your case, if you put them on the car and started the engine the same thing would take place within a few minutes. This issue often comes up when a tech "tests" the wires before installing them. With carbon core wires (no wire winding) the resistance would measure 3000 to 7000 ohms per foot. Mag wire can measure the same as the carbon wires before they are installed because of reading through the latex. Hope this makes sense .This info is straight form the horses mouth.
