Baseline Dyno Complete

Well,

Our local Euro club had a dyno day on Saturday, and the brick was back running so I ran it to see if it was performing near stock. Rob - 96 850GLT tagged along the day after his sisters wedding!

To me it looks pretty much how it feels on the road.

The boost curve really surprised me (I don't a have a real boost gauge). Smack on 10.5 PSI

I also think it ran with the Aircon on - lol. The ECU's turn it of on WOT though don't they?

Anywho the wife says that we should get more out of it (I think she wants to beat a certain AMG in the club, so I'm looking at a 16G or T3/T4 and custom tuning, exhaust etc.

I would welcome you comments on the results, especially for any that have dynoed a stock R.

so approximately 180-185whp, not bad. i should've done a baseline dyno. good job it'll put a smile on your face after a few mods going back to check what you're making at the dyno. it's always exciting - good job.

your boost looks like more smack on 7.5 psi with a bit of creep towards the end. I should be higher than that I think between 3K and 5K rpm

True - that's what suprised me - but the peak is 10.5

Had to ramp up the car slowly to stop it dropping to second than after about 110km/h he stomped on it.

Car def. put a smile on both our faces Simon  185 - 190hp is pretty much what a well-maintained stock 850R should put down to the wheels at this age. 60 trim for the 15G, TME ECU per what you said you were looking for. I say 3" DP to a 3" exhaust but i know you want to keep the noise levels down <_< along with boost gauge etc. :) Thanks for letting me tag along Simon, it was great to meet fellow VS members from around the world  You have any pics/vids from the meet?

Hey Rob, Hope you enjoyed your travels!

The camera took really bad photos -it really is getting to the point where it needs to be replaced. So no

There are some others that everyone else is putting together but are not there yet. Also the results....

Thanks for joining us, we enjoyed your company, and for me to catch up with a member of VS in person was great!

I've been chatting with another member about the turbos - he is one of the best in NZ for building them, so it will be good to have his input - he is astounded at the limit of the stock bottom end - but he's used to italian stallions - lancia integrales!

As for the noise - you haven't been in the pocket rocket :D was going to take you in it tonight if you wanted to go to the meet.

Haha yea would have loved to but i came home and collapsed on the bed. 5+ hrs of traveling in a minivan with 3 kids under the age of 5, 1 sister, and 2 parents kinda got to my last nerve  Actually just woke up not to long ago, but hey i'll be coming back soon i think for another visit, so i'll def. catch up with you again.

Seems about right. My car did 142kw on the wheels when it was stock. You have a very good torque figure there tho. Seems too high almost? Even after some mods, i'm not getting anywhere near that. I'm running 186kw now, and 402Nm.

Kibim, ignore the torque figures - they are not corrected! I only use the shape of it not the values.

Matt, shes stock so it's a 15G straight flange.

Many have suggested to just do ECU upgrade and exhaust - but I know it will not be enough for me. If I'm getting a custom downpipe, it might as well be for a new turbo! Also there is no point in making this car faster if it is still going to be slower than my stock Renault.

Yes I know the the 18 and 19T would see me to the blocks limits, but they are few and far between here and from the dealer they are over $2k NZ so 1400USD.

We have a lot of EVO's and WRX cars as well as skylines so second hand turbos are very common and relatively cheap - just not Volvo ones.

Rob, so what are you saying - not feeling the family love? hehe - I know what you mean tho. If I don't catch up with you before hand you have a safe trip and enjoy the rest of your time here. My guess is it's a bit slow here though compared to back home.
