Control Arms

I bought a set of Powerflex poly bushes for the control arms and rather than put them on my possibly 122k mile old CA, im going to get some new ones. Ive found in the UK that PartsForVolvo sell Scantech versions. Are these a decent control arm? Does the balljoint last as long as OE versions? Anyone had any issues with them? Would I be better off just getting OE volvo ones.

Go delrin bushings. They really are better. As far as scantech...do they have a warranty? Then go for it.

How do you like yours? Any feedback?

yeah I noticed an instant improvement in steering wheel feel, but this could be because my old ones were shot. It just feels more planted in the higher speed corners. Torque steer seems reduced too, but then again mine were shot.. so the only thing I can say conclusively is that they will last longer than the stockers, and I think they may have actually improved the ride quality

Ive already bought the poly versions, could sell them on i suppose.

Who sells the delrin bushings then? QBM/Greg is the only one i know of, but he pulled the old ones due to the problems that were assocciated with them and he hasnt released another version yet. If i did wait, i could be waiting for a long time cause I havent seen him on this board for a while.

Bikaplan, those are probably the ultimate control arms for our cars, but they are just not needed for my application, in all honesty I wouldnt know what to do with them, i.e the adjustments that are possible, so they are a little OTT for me.

Well, what grade of poly are they. 96 shore etc.. if theyre hard they should be ok. The funny thing is, you can get delrin by the block. Its not cheap, but its easy to form with a lathe. The QBM bushings are the floating kind anyway. I dont know why nobody else makes them.

Don't let yourself get overwhelmed by the fact that they have more features then the standard control arm. I can help you out with alignment specs to shoot for.

Having a 0 slop connection for the control arms is huge considering all the power on these cars are controlled by 3 connection points / side. Remove the slop and you make huge gains for better control. On RWD cars there are 5 suspension parts to replace in the rear to get these type of gains, on the FWD cars you only have 2 (4 including camber plates).

The adjustability isn't something you will be constantly messing with, you install them, align the car, and enjoy.

QBM bushings here, and my stockers were not shot.

Massive improvement in ride quality - the crashing is no longer there.

Steering response has also improved along with traction accelerating out of corners.

I cannot comment on the longevity.

Any free floating design ie solid bushings or blkalpan's control arms would be an improvement.

Not sure if the poly ones spin freely?
