BrickLayer Posted February 20, 2007 Report Share Posted February 20, 2007 ok i have a 96 850 na with 199k PROBLEMmy problem is that i was getting poor heat from my heating system. so i did the basic steps... search on vs for hours apon end to find the answers. well i replaced the thermostat and the ect and flushed the coolant. my next step was my heater core . i just order one tonight. but when i went to the store to by some tools i found that my heat was working great. when i first had the problem it was around 18f and today its roughly 30f. i checked the recirc door arm and that is broken. will replace tomorrow. but i'm wondering if i was just sucking in freezing cold air and thats why my heat wasn't pumping out hot. i can move the fresh air dial and that seems to open fine . and i checked the heater core and its not leaking. if you guys could chime in tonight that would be great so i can cancel the heater core tomorrow if i have to.QUESTIONS:1 could i be sucking in cold air . and that is making my heating system not work properly.2 how can i check to see if i am sucking in air.3 should i just deal with it 4 or is the heater core shot and i need to get a new one thanks Mike Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
info2x Posted February 21, 2007 Report Share Posted February 21, 2007 You should still get plenty of heat even without recirc activated. I think my core is going (I can smell it when I first start the heater) and I still get plenty of heat.When it gets cold out I always turn the fresh air dial (not recirc) off so I get warm air out of the center vents.
