I'm thinking about getting one since I have a 1 cube fiberglass box that I don't want to get rid of for a bigger sub. This one seems to have a decent ammount of power that can be fed to it (I'd probably run it at 600 watts rms @ 2 ohms via a us acoustics amp). Bing_0 Posted July 31, 2004 Report Share Posted July 31, 2004 the boston pro series are good subs, though i persoanlyl would not buy them for waht they sell at. but if you have the moeny and want boston, they are a good sub. there are similar priced ofnot cheaper subs that match it in performance. I was thinking about getting one, but then I wanted more bass for the buck so I went with JL Audio.But Boston's are very good for everyday music listening. Bing_0 Posted August 2, 2004 Report Share Posted August 2, 2004 as I say time and again, do not be a specs shopper when it comes to car audio, just cause something handles 600 watts RMS does NOT mean it gets louder than something that says it handles 400 watts RMS. efficiency of the sub plays a part, and some subs while it can handle that watages, doesnt really get any louder beyond certain wattage input, meaning say it reaches 99 percent of its xmax with 400 watts, the extra 200 watts may get you say.... .5 of a db? not worth it IMO, also, some heavy wattage subs, for some reason have HUGE surrounds, whcih makes the cone really small, so while the awesome motor structure on those subs make it go up and down a lot, its small cone sorta works against its overall output, a good recent example is when i did a back to back test with a crystal cmp12, and a eclipse titanium 12, the titanium says it can handle well over 1000 watts RMS, and just looks plain massive, the cmp, while also a big sub, says only 600 watts RMS, and much smaller than the eclipse, well, guess what, when we hooked up the same amp to them in the same car with the same gains, the crystal acutally got louder than the titanium (four people heard it back to back to confirm it), and though the crystal did start to bottom out before the eclipse, you have to ask yourself something, do you want a louder sub? or do you want a sub that can handle more powr? b Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
