Hilton
Has anyone ever considered changing the orientation of their turbo? What if we clocked it so that the air was forced down rather than up? Then ran under the engine to a FMIC?I've done no research on this AT ALL, but I will tomorrow. BlackT5
Yea, that's not going to happen.
narxs70
good idea but BlackT5 is right. keep thinking tho.
prasamin
even better would be to cut a whole in the hood, and custom manifold, and put the turbo outside, above the hood, and put the IC right in front of it.

turbobrick
the problem or inherent flaw with this idea would be, you'd have a big massive pipe sticking out directly underneath the oil pan, this will limit ground clearance as you definitely dont want to be hitting stuff dislodging your intercooler pipe. fromtheshadows
yeah Ive thought about running a remote turbo...then realized the work would be ridiculous.
BlackBeast
ya think?Definately, that looks ridiculous.

BlackBeast
Another thing, theres a reason why WRX/STI owners change their top mount intercooler to a FMIC.
Zulu
Another thing, theres a reason why WRX/STI owners change their top mount intercooler to a FMIC.What does that have to do with this thread? That TMIC you see above is HARDLY related to a WRX style one.
Fudge_Brownie
I've done no research on this AT ALL, but I will tomorrow. My favorite part haha. I've done it before, and I'll do it again. Just cracked me up.Really though, imagine accidentally crashin the bottom of your car on a speed bump, or the road etc etcAnd I'm not sure if this matters much, but forcing hot air downward...when hot air rises naturally....Wouldn't it be best to let the hot air go up like it wants to? turbor850
Another thing, theres a reason why WRX/STI owners change their top mount intercooler to a FMIC.to gain minimal hp and loose torque ?big debate on that subject that we don't need to get into
Boost-a-holic
Another thing, theres a reason why WRX/STI owners change their top mount intercooler to a FMIC.b/c the top mounted intercoolers get too hot (being directly on top of the engine) and it doesnt cool down the air as much as a FMIC
