BlackBeast
I have a '97 V70 T5M, i want a volvo rad that has no other coolers built in. I asume that I need the N/A version for that?So which is the best rad to get from Volvo? Engine codes? Do the p2s fit straight on? Im sure i read a while back Johann used a '01 rad in his '99? If you get an N/A rad. then you will still have the auto tranny cooler fittings.

There were some volvos with tow packages that came with an aux trans cooler. you can, of course, use these as an aux oil cooler.

There is a connection on top of the radiator for the expansion tank though, need to block that if you want to install on an 850.

Would these rads have exactly the same mounting positions as an 850/early x70s? What would be the best way to block that connection?Last question, are there any 850/pre ME7 x70s that you know of that come without extra coolers? The NA 850 I have here, SDM which was '92 AT, uses a cooler for the AT but doesn't have the oil cooler like the turbo engine's.The S70 radiator is same size as the older models. You could block it using a small piece of hose and a plug made out of alloy or so. Two hose clamps and it should be OK.
Keaton85
why are we talking about blocking off the holes anyway? and is there any size difference between the rads with both oil coolers and ones without? i dont think so but i might be wrong. Johann
why are we talking about blocking off the holes anyway? On the older engine's there is a vent hose connection on top of the thermostat housing which vents to the coolant expansion tank.On the newer models this connection has been moved to the top of the radiator. Could I change the thermostat housing to the newer style one without the vent?

BlackBeast
I think you can but why would you?Would be pointless having two vents, so if I was to get the newer style rad I might aswell use the vent that came with it, dont you think? Thats all id have to do is find a thermo housing from an ME7 in the scrap yard.
