Amp And Stock Hu

i posted a couple days ago about speakers for my c70. my next question is i have 2 amps (1 4ch and 1 2 ch) that i want to use for my speakers. can i hook them up to my stock sc-816 headunit or do i have to get an aftermarket unit? im probably gonna go to sound of tristate (in DE) to get it installed...ive gone there before for previous work and they do a good job and always fix whatever they screw up

Many shops won't know how to hook into the volvo HU, or won't want to, and will suggest you buy a new one.

Also, hooking up an amp isn't that hard, you can do it yourself pretty easily, I suggest you think about that. I can install an amp in a parking lot with hand tools in about an hour, and I'm not even a pro.

Regarding an aftermarket HU, the only reason to upgrade beyond stock is features, the SQ gains you'll see won't be that great, and you're using an amp so power isn't an issue. If you don't have a burning desire (or the $$), don't bother.

Regardless, to use the stock HU, you'll need an adapter to go from the DIN plug on the back to RCA jacks + Remote line. There are several people on here who sell them, and there is a guide on how to make them. If you can solder it's not hard, but if you can't, just buy one. I have one I'm no longer using I built myself that works very well but isn't overly aesthetic (no heat shrink or anything else) if you're interested.

In my car I have two amps connected to a Volvo SC-901 headunit, which has the same amp output port as your SC-816.
