1993 Volvo 850

I recently bought a 1993 850 GLT with only 142 000 km on it for $2000. The car is in good condition and needs minor tuning and new paint on the front bumper. After buying it I discovered it had a 6 disc CD changer in the trunk. Reading the owners manual I was the directed through the simple process of using it, but the CD Changer is not recognised. Are there any fixes for this?

Same thing happened on my 94 850 turbo, i never got the player working. It had no power and when i pressed the CD button on the radio, it did nothing. Only thing i can suggest is to see if the fuse that runs along the wire of the cd changer is blown.

i don't want to sound like an ass . . . . but did you check to see if the wire for the changer was plugged into the back of the stereo?

i have the same car and had the same problem, that was my simple solution

Of couse I did what I did check was the fuse along the power wire to the CD changer itself. It looks as if the previous owner had by-passed that fuse by redoing the wiring directly. This could mean that it is shot or there could be something between that and the changer unit that I missed.

There is no power at the changer itself which means it is somewhere on that wire that my problem is.

Where exactly is that fuse you are talking about? My CD changer isn't working either, and I know the wire is properly plugged into the back of my stereo (...was inside there yesterday working on my other problem... the ECC...)

Follow the wire (purple and green i think ) from the back of the CD changer. It will be behind the upholstery by the power attena , and is wired into that power there. It should be just before that.
