S70 Vs Manual Firebird

After almost a year of knowing my manager and friend, David, I finally asked him to race tonight in his Firebird. I've never bothered to ask what year it is, but it's a fourth gen. V6.

A few weeks earlier I took him for a ride and he said, "Wow, this is a lot faster than I thought." I just said, "Yeah."

So anyway, tonight we raced about four or five times and I took him every single time. Whether it be from a 40mph roll or stop. When we rolled he got me at first, but not for long. By the time I reached about 100 he was about 6-7 lengths behind. I was very surprised to beat him off the line when we were stopped, but it felt like one of the better lauches I've had. I wasn't complaining about the 40 degree weather either. ;)

Hooray, Volvo!

Nice kill.A friend of mine's son has a 98 Firebird with the 3800 V6 5-speed.He's done a few small mods(CAI,chip & exhaust).I've driven it a couple times and ran him with my car as well, and his car pulls very strong for what it is.Prolly a low 15 second car.Might even catch a high 14 if he got a good reaction and launch. His future plans are to rape a GTP supercharged 3800 motor out of a wreck he can buy from one of his friends.I told him to hold his water until he finds a wrecked Gran National turbo 3800. :o

are you seriously telling me that ur glt put 6 7 cars on a v6 firebird...a lil exadurated if you ask me...

V6 Birds are slow, ESPECIALLY if they are the 93-95's (3.4L, 160hp tanks) Couple that with a manual transmission and a driver who possibly can't shift that well, and you're leaving that b*tch in the dust.

Good kill!

If it's a 3800 with a manual, those cars are surprisingly snappy, even with the 3400 v6s and a manual. I'm not saying they're fast or anything, but one could have some fun if one were so inclined.

If you were getting him out of the hole, no offense but he probably cant launch. Not that they have hugely wide tires or anything. But power to the wheels is probably similar and weight is similar...I believe. He should be getting the jump on you.
