Thanks for the enthusiasm but the final product won't be happening for I'm guessing another month or so. I've got 2 AP tests and 2 SATIIs to get through but once those are done I should have a lot more time. I'll be sure to post pictures of any progress.

Here's my setup:

I followed your thread on mp3car. Your whole install is just completely perfect. Even the case that you made came out nice. Everything about your install is just perfect, down to the color/texture of the fabrication (to match the dash). I tried to use your .tiff boot screen image that you posted on mp3car but for whatever reason it crashed my computer. My project is on hold for about 2 weeks longer but I'll probably send a pm your way asking for some specifics once I get back to building/fabricating.

and it took you HOW LONG to do that CARPC 10% done 1999

LOL, in 2005 I purchased some of the parts, never got around to doing it. In 2006 during the summer I got off my jerk for a few weeks and built it. Then throughout the year I spent a few days here and there working on random things (software, etc).

It's 2007 now and I've had the carpc running for a bit under a year (it was born June 15th).

Total time spent working on it? About two weeks if I work day-in, day-out. It was really hard to find time to do anything with it, so it took forever.

Now it's 100% functional and finished as far as the front-end cosmetics go, I just want to clean up all the wiring that runs around the car and make it cleaner (it's not visible though, unless you look in the trunk).

what are the SPECS on your CarPC system?

* 1Ghz VIA EPIA Mini-ITX M10000 Motherboard (onboard audio and video)

* 512MB Samsung DDR

* 90W OPUS DC-DC PSU

* 27GB 3.5" WD IDE drive (old one, had it laying around... looking for a nice size 2.5" drive)

* HOLUX HU-213 USB GPS receiver

* Generic USB BlueTooth dongle

* Windows XP Pro stripped with nLite to be about 200MB

* RoadRunner frontend with BMW iDrive theme

* iGuidance for GPS

* 7" SUPER/AVATAR Touchscreen LCD

* 360W Alpine 4-channel amp

* JL 4-gauge amp wiring

* Custom LCD enclosure

* Custom 1.6mm thick aluminum case

The GPS receiver will soon be replaced with a Tyco Deadreckoning GPS receiver that incorporates a gyroscope and the tach sensor.

Big thank you for the comment. I'm glad that my work has been able to inspire others!
