Taillight Painting Question

Hi,

I have a black car and I hate the grey part surrounding the taillights the trunk piece. What color should I paint these?

Options are:

Smoke them

Flat black

Gloss black

Graphite

Black chrome

If you have pictures that would be nice.

I was thinking of doing the same to my 95+ lights before i sell the tinted 94 lights. One look that was in my mind the most was to do an anthracite / graphite look to the ring and then just smoke the white part of the lights.

Black could be good since your car is. I would go gloss.

And Black chrome is a no no. unless your going for the ghetto fabulous look.

Got Rims? Match the paint to the rims is another idea.

Hi,

I played a little with paint and decided it will be gloss black. Anything darker than the current grey is going to look good. I love tinted tails but cops around here are very anal about it. I only tinted the brake lens on the spoiler. From 5 feets you won't tell there is a light there as it blends very well with the black of the car even though Niteshade is less glossy. Next step will be a bar of leds in there.

About black chrome, I will try it on my front grille. It's a glossy smoke paint that goes over chrome to make is black chrome. Should help with the blacked out look. I tried it on scrap pieces of chrome and it looks great.

The front chrome of this golf was painted with that Metalcast Smoke paint. I think it will look nice.
