just a problem noted recently, had my greddy ebc set to 14 psi a while ago. just yesterday noticed that it only went t 11psi and today saw that no matter how high i set the ebc it wouldn't increase the boost. any ideas guys cos i'm about to go out tonight with a guy who has an integrale so i need every psi i can get

greddy profec b and it limits it to just above 11psi, maybe 12.

btw you got a damn nice ride :D(prasamin)

definetly no holes cos i've pretty much completed stage 0. only thing left are the HT leads and one of the pipes that goes from the inlet manifold to the front of the car just by the radiator.

oh, and vacuum is at 20 psi on warm idle and 22-23 if i let go of the accelerator while driving.

have you replaced your I/C hoses with silicone, or checked them recently?

you could have good vacuum and run well under vacuum, but when you boost, a small crack can be opening up, and leaking, thus your loss in boost.

I had a problem with my Greddy SpecII when I had accidentally pinched the vac line that goes into the back of it...because the reading was out of whack, it would limp and limit boost to 7psi, or minimum....i would get to 7psi, and then it would be like I was towing an 8 ton trailer up Mount Everest....it just wouldn't move.

obviously a boost leak then?

sometimes very easy to diagnose other peoples problems but can get all worried and confused when it's your own :D

thanks guys, appreciated, gonna go out right now and have a quick look, only maybe half an hours sunlight left.

haven't tried that yet tbh. what do you think that would tell me?

had a quick look, nothing was obvious really. turned a couple of screws half a turn but that was about it.

it's wierd, if i had this problem from the beginning i would definetly blame stage 0, but not when i've had it running fine for a while

Hoses develop tears over time. Did you pull your throttle body cover off and inspect the throttle body hose? I've seen tons fail there on the junction where it turns up to the iac.

People can typically hear if they have a boost leak, it's a loud rushing air sound :P Definately check your IC hoses, boost controllers typically don't break and limit boost, it's usually the worn out stuff that breaks first.

ok, now that was wierd. just took the car outa nd having the same poblem. BUT, it's also a good thing as well to report. ever since having the car, as standard it would only go to 5psi and it used to make me think what the fuss was about for a standard T5. because i had an mbc at home anyway that went on in the first week.

coming back home just now i turned the profec b (ebc) off and now i'm hitting 8 psi as standard :D still actually pretty quick!!

which leads me to believe that the problem is either the ebc itself or some pipe somewhere being able to cope with 12 psi, but maybe starts seeping air through at any higher psi. i think...

  • 2 weeks later...

ok since this topic was started i fitted an HKS SSQV and fitted a forge blanking plate. i replaced the hose that i was a bit suspect about that goes from the bottom of the turbo to the boost controller and it is a bit better. i can get 14psi and at idle it sits at 22. but i definetly still have a boost leak as it wont go higher then 14psi. the search continues.....
