Mbc

Recommended Posts

You can put the mbc on there and bump up the boost but as soon as the boost goes higher than stock the ecu will pull back timing and fuel to bring you back into stock specs. It will be jumpy as hell. If you want to experience what it will be like just disconnect your wastgate hose.

hehe, i put it on. i took it all the way up to 80. no problems to report as of yet. it seems like it helps with more power up top, i could be just totally placebo-ing, but my girlfriend asked me what i did to it when i picked her up from work. no jerks or anything. i'll keep this updated.

Sweet, so where do we place bets for the "What's this light on my dash that stays on and says check engine" thread? What do you have the boost set at?

i do not have a boost gauge, but it should be here any day now. i bought 3 gauges mr. mike baker was selling.

if i had to guess i would say 6-7 pounds. the adjuster isn't even screwed half way in.

Please, please, please take my advice and remove the MBC. It is not good AT ALL to use an MBC without a boost gauge. You need to hook up the gauge first before anything else.

jeez, you guys think i'm dumb. granted, i'm sure all of you have a lot more knowledge and experience with these cars than i do, but if nothing bad is happening then why take it off? if you could show me one case where a significant problem has arisen with a 99+ and a mbc then i will happily take it off that very instant.

i've also been keeping it under 3000 rpms while my pcv system needs replacing, with the exception of tonight.

First that MBC wont do a damn thing because your ETM is going to retard everything else as soon as it goes any higher than stock. That is unless you really have a 98. The electronic throttle module (ETM) only allows the cars to boost to their ECU set limit, any higher and you will either an engine overboost code or worse. Crank it up all the way, it wont hurt your car to do it once. Do it so you can see what I mean. I have the same car as you and if you dont have the ECU reflashed or tuned to give the ECU a new psi limit it wont go any higher without adverse side effects. Its not that there are any specific instances of anything "bad" happening because no one buys a MBC for a car with the ETM. It just doesnt work.
