Guest Guest_Yuri_*
I have a 2000 S40, well its my bros but he left it with my parents about 6k miles ago and they have been driving it around with the check engine light and never did anything to it, no oil change or anything, oh and put 87 instead of 91, what does that do to the car? main reason i came here is the car is iddling low and sometimes dies after you start it for the first time in the day, iddles at about 750 rpm, but I noticed after i ran the car down to no gas and filled it up with 91 it helped and hasn't died and was iddling at 1k yestordayalso the car chugs when im on the highway speciallt if i give it some juice - check engine light is on and service light comes on when the chugs happens... mikie
so all these problems started after fueling up with 87octane?
starfish
One possibility is the fuel pressure regulator could be leaking gas into the vacuum hose. With the engine running pull off the vacuum hose at the regulator and see if it is dripping.

loseR99
you say that the oil hasn't been changed as well? You're at 106k and an oil change isn't on your list of maintenance items? Def change the oil, and get the code for the check engine light read. The service light comes on at 7500 mile intervals and can be shut off manually by holding down the odometer while putting the key in 2nd position, keep holding it and turn the car on while still holding it, light should go off. Might take a few tries, but it works.
