USMC850T
Just got it today. It's a formula 500 chassis! I've gotta grind down the paint and rust and re paint it this weekend. My bro and I will start building suspension and the rear third of the frame soon. With the normal 440cc 2 stroke that the car uses it will hit 60mph in just under 3.5 seconds. Since I'm not road racing I'll use either a 600cc or 1000cc sport bike motor, so I should be a decent quicker. I plan to auto X in the unrestricted class, which means I'll be able to use wings on the car for a little extra lateral G holding from the downforce. I also plan on a pushrod suspension instead of the "puck" system they use in the 440/500 class. Should take most of the summer to assemble, but I hope to at least hit a few auto X's towards the end of the summer. One of the guys I work with is going to be racing this summer in the 440 class, he gave me the chassis because I'm helping him out with some web design work and helping him find some sponsors. He is also going to help me source parts and with the build. This is his car, almost ready for racing. He took it out on the streets yesterday as he is starting to set it up.he's happyhis first race is in Ohio in a few weeks. Come may, I get to auto X with him in that car on a runway course where he will hit 110mph where the other street cars are hitting 55-60. I'm pretty excited about that, I don't plan on driving anywhere near as hard as him though.

USMC850T
All said and done i hope to have it look like this one, just with bigger pods. Luckily my frame is slightly larger that his, cause I barely fit in his.

USMC850T
The best part is that since it's only going to be like 400 pounds I'll modify a jetski trailer for it and tow with the 850. What's the most anyone has pulled with an 850?

USMC850T
They use 440cc 2 stroke motors, his is rotax I think. Stock they run around 60 hp, he's done some coatings and porting on it and should be around 80 or so. His motor spins around 9-10k right now. He's working on his second motor, shooting for 100+hp. It will spin 12-14k when he's done with it.

Denovae
I love projects like this, although I'd prefer to go balls to the wall, get a DCR molested SRT engine capable of 9000rpms and build everything around that and a GT3076R (can't go too big... i wouldn't be able to get traction)medium - great horsepower + sub 2000lbs vehicle = mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmGOODLUCK

What's the most anyone has pulled with an 850?I regularly pull my jetski in the summer. prolly 600 lbs with the trailer. does well on the rampBut the most i ever towed was car caddy and another 850 so about 3600 lbs.manual tranny prolly helps and the car is NA dunno if that matters
Evil E
Cool. It must be awesome to drive one of those, you'd feel everything and have to really drive it.

cranky
I'd love to be able to build projects like that.Concerning the engine:(I've riden motorcycles for about 30 years)One engine I could recommend, is a V-4 Honda. Some of the older V-65s or older interceptor 1000's had Honda's famous V-4 engine. If you have never riden one, they are strong and have lots of low end torque. I don't recommend them because of the Max hp numbers - they only make about 120, but good accelleration starts right off idle, and continues to build - all the way PAST redline. I had an Interceptor 1000 and if there is one thing I could say about it = the power delivery was predictable. I've driven and owned many other bikes - many of them hands down were TONS faster, but none of them had the smooth, linear, and predictable power delivery of the Honda V-4 engines. If consistency is what you need, you would have a hard time doing better than one of those. Oh and low CG too.Newer bikes with the V-4 would be the ST-1300. I've driven an ST1100 and it had similar power delivery as the interceptor.
