I decided to try and start the car and it runs very rough and smells rich is this due to me not havingmy metal intercooler pipe hooked up to the turbo and the intercooler ??? Keaton85
So you have the Intake hose connected to the turbo? put at the other side of the turbo its not connected to the S-hose?If the turbo isnt hooked up to the hose the MAF isnt reading how much air is coming in.... copycat923
My turbo hose is popped open right now because the stupid RIP kit pipes like to pop off and I don't have tools with me. Mine runs rough, and won't idle very well cold. I also threw a code too that didn't throw CEL but the car still drives, I think gas mileage goes down cus MAF doesn't know what is going on. I did drive over 90 miles highway on the way home after I noticed it was screwed and it still got me home.
Phil94850
it will barely idle, but it runs pretty good when you rev it up. im gonna get another connector tomorrow hopefully that will fix my problem
ArmyINFDoc
sooo your intake pipe is now esstentially your intercooler pipe which is sucking in unmetered unfiltered air? Thats not good to drive. I'm also guessing you have 0 boost. lol

Ive also done this to my boss the same way, he was driving somewhere and got stuck haha, ohh he wasnt happy.

Phil94850
basically... my intercooler pipe is not hooked up, the turbo is just boosting in the atmosphere. Noooo i didnt drive like this, i just wanted to start it up and see if it ran ok after i got everything back together. ( except the intercooler ofcourse )I did alot of cleaning while doing my pcv, i cleaned my MAF sensor, throttle body, EGR, etc. so i wanted to make sure i didnt screw anything up, i guess i wont be able to tell until i get my intercooler hooked backup. I didnt know if running without the intercooler hooked up would cause the car to run badly or not since all the pipe does is carry the boost to the intercooler.I cleaned my MAF with electrical cleaner that wont screw it up right ???Im going to get another connector for the intercooler and turbo this morning and ill let you guys know...
