Anyone Have The Xm Roady

Just wondering if anyone has the Delphi XM Roady. Looking for some opinions and some "install" ideas. I know they give you a cigarette lighter plug for power and a tape deck adapter for sound but I was wondering if anyone has a more "permanent" install.

I have the Roady 2 and it's a good unit. I selected it due its portability, I can transfer it between cars and use it in the house (home kit required - it free with the Roady purchase). There are several options to hiding the wires but then you lose the portability.

There are 3 Wires:

1. Antenna - Easy to hide.

2. 12V adapter ??? I'm trying to figure out what to do as it reduces 12V to 6V.

3. Cassette audio adapter - I use the ALP/AI Aux In adapter. The sound quality is compromised when you use the wireless modulator instead of the AUX or cassette.

Again the Roady is meant for portability and as such they are trade-offs where aesthetics are compromised but you have the ability to listen to XM anywhere (soon) for 1 subscription.

My Roady is located below my Alpine HU and the only obstruction is the wire from the 12V adapter. Email me if you need to see a pic.

There was a deal on slickdeals for $50 so I got it. I wanted the XM Commander a little more, but at like 3x the price it wasn't really worth it, right now it's in there pretty messy but in the next week or 2 I want to get it hardwired electrically, or at least have the antenna routed the right way.

I've got the Xm setup but I used the FM modulator. that way you plug your XM, MP3 player or whatever into the modulator. The modulator in turn is hooked inline to your antenna wire and you just tune in to the preset station. This is the only way for me to do it. It sounds good plus you have the option of adding any external source that you want. I just have 3 wires sticking out of my dash on my car about 2". Barely visible if you use one of the lines of the dash as your exit from underneath the dash.

John.
