tmbc Posted August 6, 2004 Report Share Posted August 6, 2004 Ok, I want to replace my stock speakers with some decent ones, as some of my stock ones are starting to die. However after browsing Crutchfield's and Audiodomain's websites, I get conflicting results as to which speakers will fit in my car. I have a 6 speaker system (2 dash, 2 front door, 2 rear deck) in my '98 s70. Does anyone have any idea what the dimensions actually are? racerman Posted August 7, 2004 Report Share Posted August 7, 2004 Actually the 98 through 2000 has european 6.5" in the front and rear and 8" subs in the rear deck. I have one and have changed the speakers out. It is really a pain in the jerk since the mounting and the speaker are all one piece. The front speakers need to be mounted to the door panel. The front grill can be made to come off and the speaker go in from the outside and then the grill go back on. THen the speaker and door panel can go back on as one piece. The rears can be mounted in the same hole that the stock speakers came out of. As for the rear 8" subs you have two choices. Leave them alone or take them out and throw a ten or a twelve in the trunk. I have had the sube in the rear deck and then removed with a single ten in the trunk and the ten in the trunk is much much louder.Just my twoE Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I got a 98 S70 T5M and i got 2 in the front, 2 in the front door, 2 in the rear doors, and then 2 in the back. The front door speakers seem smaller than the rear door speakers. Also, the speakers in the back definetly dont remind me of 8'' subs. I havent really done any serious looking, but they sure dont sound like subwoofers. I was thinking that the speakers in the front were 5'' and the rear speakers were 6.5''. darn i need to go out and check those rear speakers in the back, but they certainly didnt look like 8'' last time i looked...
