Issue are going to be:

You live in PRK

NA

Screwed.

You have lots of options but I cannot seeing any of them passing your inspection. Is this going to be a daily driver or track car? BTW welcome to the board.

QFT

Keep in mind that even if you do save up for a while and install some nice mods; stuff breaks. Would you have to save up again to repair whatever went wrong?

I vote getting a beater 200 or 700 series for a fun car and keeping the S80 reliable

PRK = People's Republic of Kalifornia?

Welcome to the board

i love the exhaust sound! welcome to the board!

Heh, thanks! I actually had my exhaust done so it would not sound like a rice rocket. It has a nice euro tuned sound to it. The only downside is I have to sacrifice some cabin quietness.

And as far as what everyone is saying, yeah I get it. But I DON'T see an issue with doing a reasonable sized turbo for mabye 300-350 hp? I don't have a problem with fabrication, but I do need to learn how to weld.

I'd like to dive into the engine or forced induction, but I want to do it in a way that does not severely compromise the daily driver aspect of my car. This is my main vehicle and it has to be reliable. But at the same time, I would like a mild track/drag strip performer. Anything is better than 17 second et's at the track. And I'd like to set up my suspension for some lively autocross, even though I know this car is a.)FWD b.)almost 2 tons and c.)is a luxury barge!

Sell the car and get a T6 or get another car for your project car.

I honestly don't think you know what you're getting into.

I am very well aware. Like how finnicky ther ME7 system on this car is. How weak the bottom end is on the 2.9. How much of a pain it'll be to plumb the turbos for oil. How most likely I'll kill the tranny because the GM unit that comes with this car is a paperweight. But that still isn't going to stop me.

And like I said, I cannot sell this car. It was a gift from my parents, and I still live under their roof. It is mine to do with what I wish, but selling it or trading it for something else would look really tacky on my part, and really knock off almost all the kudos I have with them. That's just something I won't do due to that fact. Sometimes you just gotta make best with what you have.

like the car did you get a regular tint shop to tint the tails?

and with regards to the exaughst you live ine CA so emmissions are tight do they test your car anually or bianually and if they do what will you do to make sure it passes

i live in Md also tight on emissions and later on i wanted to do some exaughst work, but i know md tests cars bianually and since my car is a 96 they actually run it on a "treadmill" and take data on the emissions so i dont know how an after market exaughst would pass

other than that sweet car, my advice do what you want with the car, its yours and hey somebody has to be the first so if you wanna do something do it, but just keep a lil cash on the side in case you run into an emergency since it is your DD

First of all, no project car is a reliable daily driver. You just can't have it both ways.

Secondly, if your parents want you to keep the car I can guarantee they don't want you to beat it into the ground racing it.

Third, I think you most likely have no clue what you are getting into with a project car.

Fourth, its going to be real expensive. So plan on needing another car to be your DD, and save up about ten grand for motor work.

Fif, find a better platform to start with. Maybe an AWD t-6 or plan on spending way more to even get started.

I know, I know, I know.

I do just want to know one thing, just to feel my way around.

IF...and I say if because I'm not sure yet...I decide to do my own turbo setup, shooting for just 300-350 hp, what would be a good turbo? What turbine size? Compressor map etc?

I know some basic specs about turbocharging, and from what I've researched on my own through books and other people, but each turbo is different for each application. I want to run just 5-6 pounds of boost on the stock engine.

Ideas?

Haha, nicely done, to summarize previous post.\Don’t waster your money and time,it won’t work. It is like to put 300hp into 93 850 glt. Even if it will work, it won’t be perfect and you will have always problems with it. You got a wrong car to work with. I think lower it and put good suspension is maximum what you can get from that sedan.
