sion
Just a quick question - as per description, is there a fitting tool for RMS's to drive them in straight?I've just done one on the T-5 & after a few "dry" days, it began to leak again, albeit nowhere near as severely. I fear the RMS may have warped as I tapped it in gently with a rubber mallet. Thanks muchly.
copycat923
Leaking again already really blows, I don't know about said fitting tool but I've never heard of one. If you haven't serviced your PCV, do it though, thats getting plugged up causes the rms leak in the first place usually.

I feel your pain.Same thing happened to me.There is a "special" tool for install, just a size specific "driver".I don't have #.Even dealer techs say sometimes they'll leak, even using factory tool!Grease it well, use a pvc pipe of appropriate size, etc.Good Luck. yangotang
I used the rubber mallet approach and it seemed to work just fine.

Ironically, it began leaking at the conclusion of using Auto-RX treatment which seemed to dislodge enough sludge for it to build up around the RMS. I think the sludge may have chopped out the seal, as there was a good portion of it in that location.Does anyone know what the foam outer sealing ring on replacement RMS's is designed to do? It has been added, I guess, as a consequence of many early RMS's failing. It seems too soft a material to keep oil at bay.
