HelgaTheS80 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Share Posted April 23, 2007 I've thought about on/off about doing the mammoth task of converting over my volvo s80 over to a beefier manual transmission, should I ever want to put some more power to the engine. I like my auto but it's not the triptronic tranny and I like being involved in the driving experience somewhat.My question is are there any other GM or Volvo MT's that will interchange with little modification, or are there ones that can fit with either a bolt pattern adapter or bellhousing change. What would be required to make everything with the computer happy etc and the parts needed?I have a friend who works at a turbo shop and he wants to know the exact tranny model I have so I can feel out my options from there. I know it's a GM auto FWD unit but that is all. I need the EXACT specs and model number for it if anybody knows it by chance.I'm also just considering just another beefier auto tranny if I go that route, but a manual would be kinda fun. SkyWriter Posted April 23, 2007 Report Share Posted April 23, 2007 the tranny is a 4T65EV or 4T65EV-GT if geartronic. you can get better performance with a raybestos clutch kit, and several other aftermarket GM tranny retrofit kits. find a trustworthy shop to install it.i don't know of a manual transmission that bolts up, and would still fit the subframe chassis. Can you elaborate more on tranny upgrades for this model? Curious also about what you mean about older retrofits.Out of curiousity, I saw on a post you had pulled yours out and had it redone???
