waterdonkey
I have a 2000 v70 non turbo with about 68,000 miles on it. I am due for a timing belt replacement. I have read the Bay 13 maintenance procedures for the replacement. My question, is this a straight forward replacement? I was told that the car has “variable valve timing” and it was tricky to replace. Is this true? I have replaced my 740’s belt many times with no trouble. Thanks,Darin
MrWinkey
No...your car get's a belt at 105,000 miles and when doing so replace the manual tensioner as well..but at 68k your fine ;)
Chilled man
I view timing belts as one thing you can replace enough since if it goes your very screwed. its almost as easy as changing your serpentine belt and if you changed it on your 740 this is much easierbut winky is correct, but if you got the time and money sitting around it wont hurt I just changed mine on the 00 along with the S belt since the tensior pulley exploded at 54,000 miles so .,...... waterdonkey
Thanks, I pulled the top cover and it is showing cracks in the belt, I think I am going to change it. It is the original belt. Thanks for the help.
