Trade My 97 855r For N/a, Glt, Xc Any Takers?

Long story short, I still love Volvo wagons and want another one, but one that I'm not so afraid to get dirty.

Please comment or PM me with any questions, details, pics, requests, etc. It was getting dark fast, so I took pics while the car was still wet. I need to take more in the sun, otherwise the little dings won't show up. Also too dark for interior pics, those will have to come another time.

Pics + details!:

-note the sweet high$ hubcaps and snow tires-

IMG_3152.jpg

-lost this hubcap in MA on my way home from buying the car, doh-

IMG_3153.jpg

IMG_3155.jpg

IMG_3156.jpg

IMG_3158.jpg

-no R bumper, but it still has fogs-

IMG_3159.jpg

-V70 upper taillights (clear signals instead of amber)-

IMG_3160.jpg

-emblems faded. If I keep it the R will be removed, painted silver, and mounted in the grill.-

IMG_3161.jpg

-still have to see it's an R from behind somehow. I like the rusty acorn nut-

IMG_3162.jpg

-the only real rust I've found on this entire car. The tailpipe's being eaten-

IMG_3163.jpg

-gunk on the door seam from plastic protectors that I took off and haven't cleaned up yet-

IMG_3164.jpg

-this is pretty recent, I think from getting blasted by salt & sand this winter. The grill area has a number of chips like this that were "sort of" touched up. Up close they look like maybe a Sharpie was used to fill them in.-

IMG_3165.jpg

IMG_3167.jpg

-you can't see it well in the picture, but there's oil seeping from the connection on the tube heading toward the turbo next to the front corner of the airbox. I haven't chased this problem yet.-

IMG_3168.jpg

-only light on is TRACS. No codes, OBD scanner says emissions "ready"

IMG_3169.jpg

-actual miles, odometer still works-

PCV & purge valve done, cleared my codes, nothing has returned. Boost needle goes 3/4 or so thru the white under full throttle, I don't have a real boost gauge to tell me how much it's actually pushing though. Got my Blackstone analysis back from last oil change <1000 miles ago, said my engine is showing better wear than is typical "by a country mile" in their words.

I have over 175K on my V70 and for 6 years it has survived the occasional door ding from my wife's SUV, bikes, scooters, kid's Frisbees, Cheerios, dog hair, dog slobber on the windows, road tar, highway paint spills, gravel shots, dumbasses in close proximity, mindless shopping mall morons, ski trips, mountain bike fire lanes, coffee cups that defy gravity, clumsy clueless buddies, tons of business related transport, etc. Guess what? No one can tell 'cuz I just clean it all up and fix everything ASAP. If it gets dinged I call the Ding Dude and he makes it all betta. If it gets a rock shot I call the Glass Dude, etc. If I lose the occasional Sonic tater tot I hunt it down and secure that bad boy poste haste. No one even believes it's a '98.

If you have high standards of maintenance it would logically follow that you'll take care of any car you own regardless of it's level of trim. That being said, it seems obvious to keep the R with a few new family rules. If you trade down you'll always be somewhat chapped at your wife and that's no way to keep up a marriage.

By the way .. You're not a jerk that worships his car. You are an unselfish, caring family man that works tirelessly to preserve the value of his equipment. You're a savvy car owner hell bent on maxing out it's book value. You aspire to teach your children that cleanliness is next to godliness. You sir, are a saint. Howzzat?

 Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggonnit, people like me! haha, thanks man! You're probably right.

Are you looking for an 850 or 70 series car ?

Either, if it's in decent shape all around. Another of my own reasons is we're both mtn bikers, and I don't really even want to put my OWN bike on top of this car. And I live on a dirt side street that seems to have a built in speed limit of about 8mph in the Volvo, but 38mph in my Geo :)

I'll get pics and details up tonight when I get out of work.

I'm only looking for another wagon, no 854s, preferably 96 or later so I can still use my scan tools.

Pikey, I love your avatar!
