Ets Light Is Flashing Intemittently.......

So about a week ago my ETS dash lite starting flashing once in a while, usually when I'm accelerating hard out of a dead stop. It just flashes for a split second, but in the last day or 2 now the car has actually hesitated and fell on it's face for a second or two as well.

I'm guessing the dreaded ETM failure plague has finally caught up to me. :( Anyone have any thoughts as to T-minus how long until total failure. I'm really busy with my new business right now and just don't have it in me to go knock it around with the stealership and the recall runaround.

The dealership shouldn't give you a runaround at all. They either download the software which should take about a half hour or if that doesn't work they will throw a new ETM in it which will take about a half day. Either way your ETM is not happy and is going to crap out on you very soon.

Thanks Danny. Guess I better deal with it before it leaves me stranded.

Here in the NorthEast I've heard multiple horror stories about the dealers forcing the customer to replace sensors, have the throttle module cleaned/serviced,etc. at their own expense before the dealership will agree to replace the ETM under warranty. And my local Volvo dealership is notorious for the runaround. I'm fairly certain it will be an indigestion inducing event. But I corresponded with the NHTSA back about 1.5 years ago when they were gathering data that would eventually force Volvo to implement the recall. I became quite friendly with one of the investigators, and had multiple phone conversations with him as well as completing their questionaire regarding the issue,so I'll dig that paperwork up to have in my hand when I go to the dealer for potential intimidation purposes. Never know.....maybe it'll help expedite the new ETM installation with a reduced I'm dumb factor. :)
