After Rica Tuning Car Ran Like Poopie.....

ok, got in the RICA tuning sale for the month of april from mr ross.

here are my mods

Car sat in the garage since Oct 30th 2006 until 3 weeks ago the car was finished and was able to move.

John flashed my ecu and then i started the car for the first time since then. it fired right up, stalled, restarted and then lumpy idle.

Searched the hell out of VS, matts site and everywhere else i could think to see WTF was wrong.

check vacuum lines like 3000x's, looked for hoses cracked ect ect.

Finally descided today to take my wifes 95 850glt into the garage side by side with my 94 855t and went to town switching sensors.

started with

1:crank sensor(easy to get to) unplugged wifey's car to see what it did, car would not start. this can't be the same problem.

2:descided to move the damn air box out of the way to get to the thorrtle body and then i looked at the part numbers for the mass air flow sensor and it was the same as my turbo car(logically it "should" be different) and it was the same. the light bulb turned on in my head and i went and swapped it. the wifey's car ran like poopie just like my 855t. i was like Holy crap, i had a bad maf all this time and did not know it!!

i cleaned the maf with the electronics cleaner like everyone said and i guess it didn't work. can ran the same before cleaning btw. only thing that came to mind on why this one crapped out on me was a: cone air filter on the 855t and panel on the wifeys glt n/a. b: surface rust on the element from the storage time. out came the hammer since it's busted any ways, low and behold there was spotty rust spots on the element!!!!

so moral of my story is rica tuning is not the reason my car ran like crap, it was a bad sensor on my car. john was very helpfull in trying to get my problem fixed, he even next day air'd a new eprom for me to try, but today was my day to find out the problem and which i did!!!!

btw- let me tell everyone why i put it in this forum, my car ran like poopie. i would press the gas pedal and the car would excellerate and then it would give that cut off feeling and get a lumpy idle. the car would drive in gear and then it would feel like it hit a brick wall. suddon loss of power and bucking feeling. for some reason i always felt it was a air metering issue. it felt like the car was not metering the right air. at one point i ran the car with the maf disconnected from the intake tube and the car ran a little worse. the car could still rev the engine just under load it felt really bad. like it hit a wall.

i am just trying to describe what a bad maf sensor feels like, well this one wasn't 100% bad maybe 40% bad since the car could still run!
