rschleicher
can you just disconnect the battery for 30 min? or do you need a scan tool?My related additional question is:If you use the "disconnect the battery approach", what else is reset besides the CEL, that you might have to "restore"?The answer will be different for different models, perhaps, and also for different years. In terms of "restoring settings", I am thinking of things like seat memory settings, sound system settings, compass calibration/zone, automatic transmission adaptive settings (not really restorable, except by driving around), climate control settings, etc.Basically, how much other annoying things will have to be dealt with as the result of disconnecting the battery? Che'_Moderator
Why is the CEL on? Have you fixed he problem? If so pull the fuse for the ECU for 10 minutes and the light will go off. If you pull just the ECU fuse nothing else will have to be "reset"
S80 Tsixer
the coil on the #4cyl went bad. I replaced it and put in platinum plugs(since it had regulars when i bought it) and now it is running fine except the cel is still on
