Engine Mount

i noticed the other day that the top mount(the one that attaches to the strut bar) is broken. The rubber is cracked in half and when you twist on the strut bar you can see movement. It doesnt seem to be causing any problems but is this bad in the long run? Also, when i finnaly get the solid strut bar mounts should the engine mount be changed too? Will i be creating more problems by not fixing it?

are you sure it's really cracked? there are gaps in the rubber that are supposed to be there. nevertheless, you should replace the motor mount. i've just installed an aftermarket upper motor mount (and a stock lower motor mount, and the low transmission mount (QBM)). so i'll post something when i get some driving done.

i will try to post pics when i get a chance and you can tell me if the gaps are normal, i didnt know that any gap was ok so maybe its not broken

Have someone sit in your car while you look at the engine. Have them rev the engine a little and see if the engine is rocking back and forth with the revs. If so then your motor mounts are shot. It should move about 3mm if they are fine and anything more and it could be a problem. And yes it could cause you more trouble if you dont fix it.
