300k Mile 850 Turbo...where To Start?

Recommended Posts

Ok, get a smoke machine on there to check for vacuum leaks, do a compression check and get the codes for your CEL asap. I know you have a CEL because with a 300K mile car its rare to keep the CEL off.

dont even think about rebuilding! and dont bother with the cat. till you get the CEL checked and your vacuum fixed.

I would just get the thing so it runs good enough so nothing will get damaged and go from there. I would not bother dumping money into it. With 300k miles i hope you got it given to you!

There is no visible CEL,unless someone pulled a bulb.I don't think they did because the service reminder light was never reset, and everything lights up like normal when I start the car.I still might run a scan, though.

I just drove the car to Portsmouth and back for about 4 hours, and other than lack of boost, she ran like a champ.I'm certainly not gonna dump a ton of money into the car,but if I can get a reliable daily driver out of her for a while,I'll be happy. The previous owner had the car serviced at Portland Volvo for its entire life, and there is evidence of recent service (brand new end links being one).He just got tired of paying huge bills from the dealer and bought something new.I only paid $3000 for it!!..............................

.....JOKING!!!!!

haha you scared the stuff out of me! and i totally forgot that you were in the Cape... The big thing is that rubber, as it really doesnt last long in the maine weather since its always getting hot and cold in the winter.

This is what the guy gets for taking it to the dealer haha. If you need any help with the car just let me know and when im down that way i can take a look at her.

Crap...I was looking at FCP Groton's page, and saw that the 93-early 94 Turbos have a different setup.Guess what I've got? Yep....build date 8/93.That must be an early '94 model.Stylin Hoses doesn't list a kit for my car.:(

so you have the factory "rip" kit huh? does the top intercooler hose go straigt over the motor and into the i.c.???? hell than i think your gonna hve to go oem. im sorrry that my sugestions were in vain, but hey you can still do vacuum hoses?

You know,I don't think I do have the RIP kit....this is what I've got and it looks like what my 96 has-

Why would it have been changed??? Maybe it wasn't....if the part I need is cheaper and easier to get, then that's all I care about. Here's the hose that has the tear in it on the bottom (haven't removed it yet)...going into the TB-

Here's the car after I put my extra set of wheels on it yesterday. It came with studded Hakkas on the stock rims, which was a nice bonus-

I might leave this sticker on it because I love it :D -

yeah that the same place mine ripped at too. and no you dont have the factory rip, you can get hoses from stylin, i feel that they are better than samcos and worth the extra money cause they are thicker.

oh yeah you need moar tints, lowereds and pegs yo.... kidding kidding. but it does need to be washed

I just washed it today, but it only made me see how bad it needs a buffing!

Also, does anyone know what Campaign 69 would have been? It has a sticker from 12/94 saying this was completed. Was that when they took my factory rip kit off?
