Zappo
Don't think it'll change much. I've been a fan since the MLS started.I don't know, he should generate some added interest. His name is known by non soccer fans, so he might be able to pull in some casual fans to see him play in person. I don't think he is worth the $30 million, or whatever they paid for him. Zappo
Do you guys tune into the English soccer at all ?I follow the Premier League. I have been a Manchester United fan since the early 90s. I remember Beckham's goal from midfield in 96 when he saw the keeper way off his line.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuW_BHQt0EU

ACBarnett
you know Barclay bank, that sponsors the premiershipyeah they're relatives of mineI'm a big arsenal fan myself, and I follow the premiership games whenever I can, but this beckham and MLS thing is idiotic, they've gone and spent $30 million to bring ONE guy into LA, that's more than the value of most MLS teams and it's going to be next to impossible to make back the annual salary they're paying the guy.If they wanted to attract more viewers to MLS and bring it into the public eye, the trick would be to go after the latino market who are already soccer fans to begin with. Instead of bringing one past-his-prime british guy, they should have mined the latin american leagues for their up-and-coming players so that each and every MLS market would have a draw to bring the latino market to watch games in person. The problem with MLS right now is that it's just about the whitest of all major-league sports, worse than hockey even, and while there are many white soccer fans in the US that MLS could sell tickets to, there are millions more latin americans who are potential MLS fans.
