Gioseppe
I still have first OEM cat on my car and it's already loud. I can get you a clip of the older S40 with open DP, it sound like a boat. It's true that newer car OEM cat is more efficient.I would get a race cat. The gain of going catless is not enough to deal with the drone and the loudness add another muffler
theForgottenone
add another muffler What is the gain of going catless?I would say less than 5bhp. If you truly trying to gain 5bhp from going catless...might as well upgrade something else. Not to mention the environment factor.

2001T5
Save yourself the hassle and put a Cat on it... Having to redo work because you left it off for +/-5 hp is just retarded.
Auburn T5
add 1/8 psi to compensate for added cat.

I dont' quote benchracing stats. You be the judge on how much gain going catless on 3" DP/exhaust system...Below is for open DPOpen DP dyno gain
Auburn T5
I know the original poster has a 4 cylinder engine but I'd be willing to bet that the 5 cylinder engine and 4 bangers are completely different when it come to back pressure and power gains with catted vs catless dp/exhaust. KJ-R
unless you trick the rear O2 sensor.is it the one was in the mid of the CAT??can we trick it by zip tie it to a frame??
KJ-R
only with speedtuning bwahahado u mean ECU upgrades??
850drag
you should be able to put a resistor in the second o2 wiring which will trick it to seeing consistent voltage when you dont have a cat. I am in the process of playing around with something like that.

JHEIII874T5M
Personally, I just used an o2 spacer under the rear o2... I'm catless and it works great.
Auburn T5
8 cents worth of wiring, some electrical tape and 20 minutes of my time was all I needed to take care of the rear 02 sensor.Clip wires, attach longer wire, tape up, insert sensor into cat. Zulu
Well since a lb of boost is giving less then 10whp generally, 2-5whp is a nice gain. I told you Matt, just ziptie it to the frame.
