Uh Ooooh.

After just driving around going WOT for fun a few times, my car started making this "ting ting ting ting ting ting ting" noise. It's definitely coming from the engine. It's coming from right around cylinder two and it's decently loud at idle, but once the RPMs go up the sound dies down slightly. Performance is considerably lost. While rolling from 30 I used to be able to go WOT and have very good acceleration. This is gone as well as a lot of areas that used to be strong. I was very low on oil while all of this was happening but my oil light came on only about ten minutes before this happened. I filled up with two quarts of Penzoil 5W-30 but that didn't seem to help and I also bought some octane booster to see if that would possibly help either. It has neither increased nor decreased the sound. A couple of my friends either think it is a cam. Any ideas? This sucks the big one.

Could be a rod noise sometimes they sound like lifters. I would change the oil use 10/30 and then go for a highway run. Or somewhere that you can keep up say a constant 1800 to 2000 rpm for a few minutes see if the noise goes away hopefully it's just a lifter that has bled down. If not you may eventually find a rod through the block?
