Asinine
Well, my housemate with a Cobalt SS just ordered/received GM Stage 2 for the car which will take WHP to about 245 (allegedly), and while I'm used to getting beat by him, I am under no circumstance prepared to get WALKED by him.So, I'm looking at the ST chip, at $345 it's a good price, and I don't plan on doing a 3" back exhaust. Are there any significant red flags with these guys, or is the product well received by you fellow Volvo performance enthusiasts!?Thanks
JHEIII874T5M
It has its ups and downs. About 4 years ago I did some R&D for Oliver and it took quite a few revisions to get software that didn't have my a/f in the 10's... no need to wash my cylinders. Some of the tunes they send out are total junk and others work great. I haven't found a way to "classify" them, per se, but will tell you to keep an eye out.Either way, I'd strongly suggest steering away from a chip unless you've already got your car in a nearly perfect stage of maintenance. Also the factory exhaust... at the very least get a less restrictive catback on there... and you'll be needing to replace the factory turbo hoses. Samco offers a replacement and I offer samcos.

It raises the boost and dumps a ton of extra fuel in to compensate and makes you run a bit rich but it's not "terrible." I actually had a ST chip in my car awhile back and with a 16T hacked exhaust and a few other random mods ran a high 13sec 1/4. Just make sure all your hoses are in check and you should see a decent jump in HP.
Fudge_Brownie
Please refer to the search function. And why are people so driven to have a bigger penis... i mean a faster car... than their friends. Measom has a 242whp setup IRRC, so see his mod list to achieve similar, you'll wanna confirm the figures with himhttp://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=35743
maiku
i noticed that ST chip on stock exhaust really beat the crap out of the cat...
volvo4lif3
ST has piss poor customer server (unless you live right down the road from ST) not really good for tuning's sake, and is not dyno tested like say RICA. Spend a little bit more money and get a better chip. In this case, you get what you pay for. Talk to Sean from the texas crew to confirm Oliver's SUPERB customer service. My 850 probably saw over 50 dyno pulls in my dealings with ST. ;)
TorqueSteer
When I had my speedtuning chip I remember smoking a Cobalt SS, although he was stock. If you can get your hands on a working one, id say go for it, see if in the for sale section anyone has one, if not, then contact speedtuning for a new one. Oreo931
i have the speed tuning 17psi version and it has been great for me...oddly enough, when Mbaker (who has the same mods as me, including chip) and I dyno'd our cars, he was running pig rich, and my afr was perfect. Either way its a decent cheap tune.
