T5 Racing
You have to get the initial tune by sending your ECu to Oliver. He sends it back and you go to the dyno to get your AFR's and boost numbers mapped, then you send your ECU back to Oliver with that info and he changes the map. Repeat until its right.doesnt that cost money for each dyno run and sending back to oliver for a remap?
POOKDIZZLE
doesnt that cost money for each dyno run and sending back to oliver for a remap? That's the beauty of getting a good tune, it's so cheap ;)

T5 Racing
Yea but if i pay $350 for a ST chip and then around $50-$75 for each dyno then thats pretty much going to rack up the price to around what a RICA chip would cost. am i wrong? What is the hp made by the ST chip if its tuned in right? (on an 850 turbo)
Asinine
I did a full stage 0 11 months ago in my car, I have Samcos, and no intention of doing a turbo back exhaust (possibly cat back). The chip will be my first and probably last significant performance upgrade, then I'm saving for a Cooper S.$350 for a decent chip that can/has/will work seems to make way more sense than $700 for something completly scalable to any mod.. .doesn't it!??!?! T5 Racing
The chip will be my first and probably last significant performance upgrade, then I'm saving for a Cooper S.Ummm not to burst your bubble there buddy but i just raced my friends new cooper S with my stock 850 turbo and pretty much ripped him a new one after 2nd gear. i hope to god your not planning on tuning the living hell out of that cause you would be better off with a volvo. now if your just doing it because you like the cooper than thats what you should do but im just letting you know my experiences with the cooper. T5 Racing
Wouldn't you have to make some trips to the Dyno with RICA as well?Never thought about that. But I was looking at a lot of other threads which said an ST and Inmotion chip would only put an 850 turbo up to about 260 (if that). a RICA chip is said to make around 275. Anyone hear any different numbers on this stuff? If so i'd like to know cause I have yet to see any dyno charts on an Inmotion or ST chip. Thanks
JHEIII874T5M
:( So much bench racing in these threads. I've seen around 230-240whp with a chipped automatic car on stock exhaust with base maps from Speedtuning, Rica, and IPD. 250-260whp can be seen once you throw on a turboback and get the car retuned accordingly. To those saying I'm adding 30whp for a turboback, that's not what I'm saying Just showing how getting the a/f and timing values dialed in for appropriate mods helps out.Mind you... the above figures already take for granted you have: silicone hoses (both intercooler and vacuum lines), leak-free vacuum system, clean air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, distributor cap, ignition rotor, flush your tranny fluid, change the oil, no check engine lights, properly functioning o2s.Biggest reason a chip will dyno 15-25whp less than another is because the fuel map is just screwed. Send the chip back for a remap and get it dialed in. By not dynoing it with a wideband or just installing a wideband while driving it around the street you will be left in the clouds. At the least inspect your plugs and use the right gas.If I were in the states now, I'd open my drawer and scan my 850's various dynos. :(

T5 Racing
that would be bhpyes i know thats BHP.Joseph, ive been in the market for a chip just like the guy that started this thread and honestly im on the fence about what to do. ive searched high and low for RICA, Inmotion, and ST and i find everyone basing everything on opinion. I would like to know which one is better and which one would be more reliable but i have nothing to compare it to. What is the BHP result of:SpeedtuningRICAInmotion???????Im definitely not going with IPD because i have heard that there tunes are beyond conservative, and thats just not what im looking for. Another thing im worried about is if im going to pay more for dialing and dyno testing an Inmotion and ST vs. the $700 i would pay to have george to a custom tune for me. What are your thoughts on this?
maiku
seriouslyall the chips can claim HPbut the stock turbo can only push so muchUPsolute is apparently more aggressive than the restInmotion is a new chip, hasn't been extensively tested, and not dyno tested AFAIKST runs a lot richer than the rest (arguably safer)RICA has lots more R&D since they're in europe, but it's $$$IPD is more conservative, but they flash chips (not soldered)i doubt ST will cost you $700 to get a good tuneand RICA hasn't had a good track record in the states lately... ACES70
ST is 325$ for initial tune and then 200$ more for as many reflashes as you want.
POOKDIZZLE
What ECU upgrade vendor does IPD reference in their new catalog (FWD for May/June) on the graph against their ECU upgrade? Anyone know
