Anthrpicdecadnce
well theres a part where the hobby ends and practibility resumes. i NEED my car. i can't just hold off like that. i'm sure many of you understand. i'm goingto keep power levels down until i can get the new rods. then when i get them, i can take my car to my school and do it there. with the help of other students and teachers. AND get credit for it.wtf happened to that dudes face yo be quite honest with you, i have not the slightest idea. we looked at the photo and was like what the hell's that??? because there was definately nothing on that kids face. go figure... gdizzle
sell the pistons and get rods. You're doing it all wrong.
Anthrpicdecadnce
Do you NEED new pistons now though?yes, i think one of my friends dropped one of my large screw drivers onto my piston crown, putting a nice gouge in it. nothing like a shapr edge to promote detonation. also, the pistons came with a set of rings, and i needed those too. Why go through all this work to rebuild and just to have to do it all over. You're going to have replace seals twice over, head bolts, etc. You're doubling the cost of the rebuild in areas. Like I said, it doesn't make any sense at all, but to each their own.
Anthrpicdecadnce
*sigh* perhaps i'm beig too stubborn. Ok i'm going to try to obtain those rods first, before i put my engine back together. do you guys think it'll be safe to reuse one of the wrist pin retainers? they havent gone in the engine yet, just in the piston. i not, where can i obtain one of these suckers? I know 500 seems like a lot, trust me I KNOW(i just went through this), but do it right once and you won't have to worry about it again. It really IS worth it. Its more cost up front, but it'll save you time and money later and time is worth money as well..

You should have the rotating assy balanced as well. What are the specs of the pistons? What are the stock pistons? D spec?
