Noahkk19
My gas and oil temp gauge readings go null, then when the car moves it comes back to normal. What causes this?
Bay13
No oil pressure gauge on the Volvo instrument cluster, I assume you mean the temp gauge and fuel gauge? So when you are rolling or off idle eveything works?

So when you are rolling or off idle eveything works?←Yeah, sorry I meant temp gauge and fuel gauge. Yes, when I'm rolling or off idle everything works. Only when at a total stop do things read blank. I could be rolling at like 1 mph and things would still be on, but once I'm stationary the temp gauge and fuel gauge read nothing.
Bay13
If you put it in park/neutral and rev the engine do the gauges come back, I'm thinking maybe something wrong with the charging system?
Noahkk19
Will try that in a minute. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Last night while driving the car, at a stop sometimes my fuel gauge and temp. gauge would read nothing. But this time a good 4 or 5 times I was stopped the speedo read 70mph, my RPM's read like 3,000 and my temp gauge went up high. I got a new battery recently if that's the "charging" you're talking about
Bay13
No the charging comes from the alternator, should read about 13.XX with the car running at idle, if it's low that could be your problem.
freeskier8585
sounds kinda like a screwd up fuse, or a short somewhere, did it on the exploder, sub control grounded out, got some wierd cluster read outs after that.... just somthing to check

ScottieDucati
Same thing happened to me, only the Tach wasn't just "reading" wrong, my engine was actually revving to 3000 rpm. The fuel and temp guages would plumett to zero, and the engine would rev a bit. It was a bad Temperature sensor on my part. At a stop, the temp sensor would read that the engine was cold, and automatically rev the engine a bit to warm it back up again.Got the new sensor from Volvo (was not expensive) and had it replaced in 2 hours. You have to take the computer box and some stuff out of the way to get to it, but the Haynes manual does a pretty good job of explaining the fix.....Scottie Ducati
