Hi guys i bought a front bearing hub assembly from fcpgroton on ebay which states that you will either recieve, brand name skf or fag bearing hub which is the orignal supplier to volvo. Well i recieved a shitty scan-tech brand one and when i called nick, he said they rebox them in scan-tech boxes but they are really skf or fag. What does he really think people are that stupid to fall for that crap. I am sorry but this company has tried to pull one too many fast ones on the community, from what i have read and myself. My question is, i will be sending this shitty scan-tech brand back tomorrow and was wondering where i can get a real skf for the best price. I already have all the hardware, so i just need the main front hub assembly. Thanks

Scan-tech is a rebrand. They just import everything over to the US in their boxes. Scantech doesnt make the headlights I bought, HOVA does, but they were in a Scantech box.

I'm sure FCP wouldn't outright lie to you. I mean once, I did have a bad experience, but they were as nice as they could possibly be, and I haven't had a problem since. I'm sure that TM850R knows what he's talking about as well. I honestly would believe nick, they seem to know what they're doing there. Can you prove that it's not the brand requested (other than the box)?

Maybe you should go to the dealer and just purchase from them. At least you know what the products will be at that point.

dealer.... <_<

I truly did not understand why everyone would call them the 'stealership' until recently... heater hoses $97 apiece at the dealer, $50 for the pair on fcp.

Intercooler hose $118 at the dealer, $50 at fcp, $3.98 with some locktite

But going to the dealer will put everything into perspective for you... you'll appreciate FCP so much more. Unless you have a luckily reasonably priced dealer

Employee discounts too...if only I became a tech.
My only question is i have looked at other online sites and scan-tech is listed as a seperate brand as opposed to skf. I ordered rear wheel bearings a month ago from a different company and they came in skf boxes and where engraved skf. The front ones i recieved today had no marking or engravings on them at all. I have just heard too bad things about scan-tech, but if someone could enlighten me, who has installed the scan-tech's and havent had problems with them, let me know. I believe even if they were reboxed like he said they would still have engravings like the rear ones i bought from another company.
Scantech is good for some parts and other parts are really bad. We had a list going around somewhere about these parts. I dont remember if wheel bearings were on them. I will try to find it.

I also like to add that i have never had one problem with eeuroparts, but a list of problems with FCP. I just feel they are trying to make maximum profit and sacrificing customers safety with some of their below standards products. In the end i just expect to get what they advertise and nothing else.

What country did it say they were made in on the box? I dont blame you for being mad I wouldnt use it either. I have examined several scantech parts I have gotten and every one was inferior, poor quality.

I'm pretty skeptical about Scantech stuff, but I have probably spent a total of around $1500-$2000 at FCP over the last couple of years on various Volvo parts for myself and others. Never have had anything but great service. I recommend them to everybody. I would not expect them to pull a fast one on you, but maybe someone else can chime in who actually bought bearings from them. Nevertheless, if you're so full of integrity, why didn't you at least do us a favor and put this in the vendor review section? Maybe someone can move it.

Dealing with Volvo parts myself I find it difficult to believe anyone has a problem with FCP Groton. When my company grows up.. I wanna be them in Canada!!! They are in fact a Genuine Volvo parts dealership if I understand their history correctly.

FCP gives you and option of purchasing Genuine Volvo or Aftermarket and they stand behind their product. I also know from experience that they are very friendly in resolving issues. I have talked to Nick several times and he is a very honest and knowledgeable individual.

As someone mentioned, you can only appreciate FCP better if you go to a Genuine Volvo Dealer and see the mark up on prices. If you don’t want to buy Scantech, then purchase the genuine Volvo from FCP Groton for 40 or more $. (Guess how much more they would cost at your friendly neighbourhood dealership if you don't buy them from FCP)?

If you understood the European market for parts.. you will see that people like Scantech rebrand parts from OEM suppliers as well as manufacture their own, and when dealing in the parts market you might be surprised where half this stuff is manufactured and by whom.

A good example of the companies’ willingness to help the Volvo community out was in the control arms. Yes they had problems with the Scantech control arms but they offered a one-year exchange and even put up Hamburg Tecnic as another option.

I actually purchased the Scantech control arms from FCP and 3 years later they are still going good.

A great company has a combination of good product offerings as well as good customer service which combines knowledge and honesty.. Both are basic to the way FCP Groton runs their business in my opinion!
