giantrobot9000
My air conditioning is nice and cold for about the first 10-15 minutes of driving, and then turns warm.It seems like if the car is parked a while and I get back in a drive, that it will get cold again, but now it always goes away after a while. It still works, but not for long...............? Ceenit
Sounds likely, but the only way to tell is to push a pressure guage on it. It could be a few other things, but the R132a is the most likely and easiest fix.
tenn850
It seems like you have a leak, you are low on refrigerant. Have it checked by any A/C qualified shop. They will look for the leak. Most of the time they recharge the system with dye and look for leaks with a black light. On these cars the evaporator coil is the #1 problem. That is the small radiator thing in the center of the dash. Hard place to get to If the leak is small you can recharge it and go on it for a while though. In US the R134a is available at any parts store. But it is illegal to sell it in stores in Canada.
matt b
When you first crank the car, do the lights on the temp controls flash for a little while ? Mine always do when I need a recharge (I have a mysterious tiny leak that can't be found with a trace...)

What is a fair price to have it recharged with R134a?
pfeener
Go ahead and check the charge in your system, but I doubt that's the cause of your problem. It sounds more like your compressor clutch is cutting out when the compressor heats up a little. Most likely an excessive gap within the compressor clutch due to wear or it could be the overtemp sensor within the compressor body. If you do a search there's a great write-up with pics on adjusting the clutch clearance and bypassing the over temp sensor.

What is a fair price to have it recharged with R134a?I've never paid over $100, even when the car was still going to the dealer. Mine was always a charge issue (compressor had a freak accident and had been replaced under warranty).
Matchbox22
Side note: In my car the a/c works fine, but after while start making the car run sluggish. Like I'm on the hwy and all in a sudden my boost gauge would go down to -20 vacuum, then go back to -7 or so while I'm driving. It feels if someone stole the power out of the car. The dealer was unable to dupicate the problem, because the car wasn't running w/the a/c for long.
