94850tx
I'm getting to the point on the build up of my car where it's time to consider a bigger turbo.I've been searching on the forum and reading a lot of posts and all I've done is confuse myself so I am hoping a post about my specific application will clear things up.These are the specs for my car:1994 850 turbo-tons of stage 0 with silicone hoses/vaccum hoses, fresh head gasket, etc-rebuilt stock turbo that's been balanced and cleaned up inside.-NA cams w/ timing tool-TME cat back w/o the resonator-EST CAI-Aftermarket Intercooler (forget which brand-located in stock position but all aluminum)-Civinco (not installed as of yet)-Greddy MBC (not on yet)-Angled Exhaust housing (not on yet)-Stuff to build a 3" DP with magnaflow highflow cat (not on yet)Also considering adding a RIP kit and R exhaust manifold and 5 speed swap.Since I have the civinco I have a lot of tunning options obviously. The engine is sound internally but is not "built" but it does have all new gaskets and seals, new head bolts, etc.I have the angled flange housing that I could put on my freshly rebuilt 13G but I'm told I'm still missing out on a lot of power with this turbo? I considered an 18t/19t but have only confused myself on which one to get. I have also been told to go aftermaket, but once again research only leads to confusion. So with that said what turbo do you guys recommend along with what supporting equipment (ie: injectors, R exhaust manifold, etc) and why. I have an extra block and will at some point build a beefed up engine but for now this needs to run on stock internals without issues.Sorry for all of the questions but the turbo thing is new to me.Thank you for the input,Nick
Auburn T5
Screw an 18 or 19TGet one of these.http://www.turbo-kits.com/gt-k_turbochargers.htmlFrom what I've gathered, they'll keep the internals happier due to the boost not coming in as abruptly at too low of RPM's.Keep the boost low until you can afford to forge the internals and get the head/intake ported then just turn the boost up and go Z06 hunting. Hes running stand alone so he can control the boost characteristics without having to half ass it with turbo selection.
TorqueSteer
Civinco does make a standalone, but Im leaning to think that he has a Civinco piggyback. As far as a turbo, stay as far away from a td04 housing as you can, as you turn up the boost on these turbos, the restrictive exhaust housing and wheel will cause too much heat buildup and high EGT's, it will also limit your top end, id look into a td05-super16g, ive tuned it in myself on my Civinco and I am very very happy with the power this turbo puts out.It doesn't matter. Hes running stand alone so he can control the boost characteristics without having to half jerk it with turbo selection.
94850tx
It is the piggy back civinco- sorry should have been more specific. I got it from whiteT5.Torque Steer- so if I went that way I would want to do something simillar to your set up? Green R injectors of course, Ive got the intercooler- not as good as your FMIC but should suffice. I am planning on doing water/methanol injection at some point in the furture. I have a MBC- any benefits to the EBC on this application? What was the reason behind the aftermarket fuel pump? What does the td05 come off of and or where can I get one?I will be PMing you to discuss more since Im new to civinco.Sorry for all of the questions new to turbos- I'm a converting domestic guy.Thank you,Nick
BtownVolvo
Nick...Super 60 wheel would be good for you. Ask Juan how that went cause he loved it.If you don't go that way, look into the Garrett turbos (T3/4). Ball bearing sexiness.Aftermarket fuel pump = Walbro 255 retrofit seen here.call me sometime so we can install your crap!!!

TorqueSteer
I went with the EBC because the way the solenoid works, it allows me to hold more boost to redline, I think its more a problem with the crappy flow from the stock exhaust manifold more than anything, but the EBC helped alot. The TD05 is from Hahn Racecraft, I bought it off ebay for an amazing price. If I had the extra money, I would go for a ball bearing turbo such as a GT25 or GT30. The GT30 is a great turbo because you can run it lower boost while on stock engine and if you decide to build up the internals, you can simply retune and crank up the boost. With a ball bearing turbo you can have larger compressor and turbine wheels and not worry about turbo lag. I went with the aftermarket fuel pump because I had an old stock fuel pump and it was cheaper to go with a Walbro 255 that has been proven to be an excellent and reliable choice for any forced induction application, you also get a cool fuel pump whine if your into that. If you go with a 16g or similar, I can email you my Civinco map so you can have a trustworthy base map to start off with, its been 9 months with the 16g turbo on and no problems as of yet.It is the piggy back civinco- sorry should have been more specific.
