Zappo
what does a set of rods run ? along with this whole project in general ?Rods are $500 for the set. Labor cost on the engine is what kills you.

Auburn T5
Does any work on these T5 blocks have to be done? Or are they pretty stout and ready to just drop in forged components and be done?Is any honeing work needed on the cylinder walls? What work on the crank is needed or is the stock crank fairly capable of handling high HP? Rods are the weakest stock part. I believe pistons would be next on the list, but they are good for at least 400 HP, and I believe some people are running much higher with stock pistons. Auburn T5
For people who use different pistons, do they do so mainly for extra strenght or do they specifically order pistons with different tops to change the compression ratio?
Zappo
For people who use different pistons, do they do so mainly for extra strenght or do they specifically order pistons with different tops to change the compression ratio?Strength. No one really changes compression, they just run higher boost levels. :)
NW T5R
Strength. No one really changes compression, they just run higher boost levels. Almost no one.... Mine is being setup about a half point lower than stock. Also going long rod short piston as well.

NW T5R
On my setup lowering the compression will enable improved off idle behavior while enabeling higher boost levels to be run.

Anthrpicdecadnce
I'd imagine our flywheels are pretty heavy. I mean it would explain the hideous response our engines have...
Auburn T5
I'd imagine our flywheels are pretty heavy. I mean it would explain the hideous response our engines have...Yeah I'm wondering if that's just lag or the weight of the FW. Are there any alternatives? I don't think I've seen any aftermarket flywheels for our cars.
