My Rica Gains

So I visted Rica today :)

I think I ended up waiting about 30-45 minutes for my chip to get installed...paid (I got a big discount because of my membership of a dutch forum)

Feels like a different car now! From about 2500-3000 rpm the boost just kicks in twice as hard as it used to...it goes just past the white of my stock boost gauge.

My car is a manual, i think the boost comes in a tad later on the auto's to preserve the transmission. Second gear already felt really good, now it feels even better...but with TONS of torquesteer.

Anyway I did some measurements (nothing very accurate, but it shows the difference fairly well i think)

----------------------------------before------after

50 - 110 (31 to 68mph) ---- 5.7 ------- 5.3 (2nd then 3rd gear)

60 - 90 (37 to 56mph) ----- 2.7 ------- 2.3 (2nd)

80 - 140 (50 to 87mph) ---- 7.8 ------- 6.4 (3rd)

100 - 160 (62 to 100mph) - 11.2 ----- 8.8 (4th)

the 60 to 100mph would be a lot quicker if I started in 3rd gear..but i decided on 4th because this way I didnt need to shift and I wanted to be able to hand a hand and a half on the steering wheel at this speed. 62 in 4th was only 3200rpm or something.

the 31 to 68 mph one is kind of useless...i had to shift at 105 km/h to get the last 5...i should have done 30 to 65, that would have worked better.

My best 0-62mph time (stock) was 7.1 seconds. I am sure its a good deal faster now, but I didnt try.

I'll try a 0 to 100mph soon though, with a conservative launch.

All in all i'm happy :) money well spent imho. Though its not exactly ideal to run only a chip on the stock downpipe and exhaust...but there's some issues preventing me from changing the downpipe in the near future.
