Hid Install For Low Beams

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Got a question about HID install. I have the Old (1st version) of the Blacked out lenses with LED's with H1 bulbs in all 4 sockets. I have had to remove the headlamp assembly from the car ( didn't on any others of the installs). There is a refracter cap for the low beam bulb that doesn't interfere with the bulb, but can remove it. My question is... Should I remove it?

Thanks a lot

It is just a shield to block stray light that isn't focused. I left mine there. In fact, I extended mine on one side to alter the pattern more to my liking.

If you remove it you might have some strange glare problems. It is there for a reason and running HIDs instead of halogens doesn't make a difference.

Actually, HIDs will generally make the glare worse because they alter the location of the light source, which means that all the reflection points and angles are different which = more scattering which = more glare.

Lets not get into this argument again.

I personally don't even see it as being an argument either. It's a fact. It's like putting on glasses that are not for your eyes, it might look cool on the outside, but you can't see stuff.

are you all saying that HIDS with projectors are not a good idea?

WITH projectors is an excellent idea! However, there are differences between halogen reflectors and halogen projectors and between halogen projectors and xenon projectors.

If you are going to put HIDs on your car, the BEST way to do it is to retrofit a xenon projector in as well. It's not as hard as people think!

It puts all the light where you want it and keeps it out of the eyes of oncoming drivers.

Like i said...really not all that difficult:
