Race Gas...

I've used GT100 with my base mapped RICA and have gained 3-4 mph in the 1/4 consistently. Boost goes from 17 (ish) to 19 psi in 3rd gear.

I have no idea if it's pinging cause I don't have a reader yet (don't roll your eyes, Joe ;) ), but if I'm pinging, then just about everyone else that is running an 17-18 psi base chip/MBC is too.

Excess octane results in less mileage and HP but whatever

Unless you have a crappy rwd car like myself that gets better mpg on higher oct gas

But then again for whatever reason there are a few engines out there that make more power on 87 than on the race gas they run at the track

Low compression, low boost, or low revs will all make more power on 87. 8:1 6k and 20 psi does fine on 94-95 octane in most climates. 110 you will loose HP and never tried 100 as I never have it around.

You mean that 95 octanes gas performs better to our cars than the 100?I've never seen a difference to the performance by using 100 octanes instead of 95.I just use it because of the better quality. But as I'have seen in past topics you and we here don't have the same types of gas.

Then again those bike engines that make more power on 87 than race gas are all high compression, no boost, and high revs so eh

otherwise i miss the way my car ran on 115 leaded ... so nice and smooth

DONT do this.. i burned out both O2 sensors in like 3 days with this idea :D

Gotta stay away from leaded gas, mang. Around here 100 is unleaded and in some spots you can find 110 unleaded, but for the most part, anything over 100 is leaded. Which is bad for O2 sensors as you found out. :P

Probably carburetors then with so so metering. High compression needs octane more than anything else. You can obviously fatten the A/F to do the same thing but I thought we were talking about performance here not backwoods 101 engine theory.

Actually they are the new fuel injected ITB engines on the 1000cc bikes ... but eh
