Dieseling

So I haven't been on VS in a while because of...well whatever, it isn't important. What is important is that I have a problem with my engine every time I shut it off. When I do it diesels or more precisely it knocks harder than necessary about 3 times. This really concerns me because I am sure it isn't good for my pistons and rods.

I am not exactly the most experience mechanic but if you guys give me some good places to start maybe I can get this sorted out before it becomes an issue.

It's a 98 T5M for those who don't wanna read my sig.

Thanks for any help!

I wanna add a few things...

First, that I always use 93 octane no matter what.

Second, I am gonna check the plugs tomorrow to see if they are dirty.

Third, I have a MBC set close to 1 bar (around 13 psi).

I might do seafoam through the vac tomorrow as well to make sure I don't have a carbon build up I can't get to with you taking part the block.

Thanks again.

It very well could be carbon garbage on the piston, and a little seafoam will help that. Be very careful not to suck that stuff in too fast!

Your turbo pressure doesn't count at idle, so that's OK but too high for me. I would be afraid of pressure on the head gasket.

It could be from the plugs. Pull them first and check the dirt on them. The center electrode must not be rounded. A good strong flashlight might let you see the top of the pistons. They should be grey.

Thanks man. Any little info helps in the long run. That's exactly what I need.
