I Feel Like I've Lost My Interest In Cars.

Recommended Posts

Ehh, I was thinking just now. I'm probably getting bunched up over nothing.

The bottom line is I have a car I can't afford to finish, another I should just leave alone (if not try to get it back to what it was supposed to be in the 1st place) and a hobby that isn't necessarily dead, just dormant for awhile until I have the time and funds to truely enjoy it fully.

Whew. ^_^ . What a relief.

Helga, you being in school and all right now, I'm amazed you can afford to keep the s80 going.

You're stressed right now and probably feeling overwhelmed right now, with your dad's health, college, bills, the volvo, and other things. It's natural in times like that, that your normal passions go out the window.

My last year living in ottawa, I barely touched my camera, first year and a half living here, same story (for those who don't know me, I used to live and breathe my camera, doing random photo work, I'd slum around with a couple bands in ottawa) I just was too stressed, had no desire, and had too many other things going on at the time.

As far as the GTO goes...come on. doing a classic restoration while dealing with your own vehicle's needs and being in school? forget it. It's sad but true. My dad has a 69 mustang mach 1 that we've been halfly working on since I was in about grade seven...there's still so many other things to do to her, but come on. Cost of living + my volvo payments/expenses/future mods = not something easily done.

oh yeah, and whoever was raggin on their s70t5...why do you consider it crap? I have come to realize that these cars have feelings...they seriously do. (when my parents signed the papers to buy their acura TL, thats when that damned lambda light came on needed a new air pump $1500 later (can we say down payment on my car lol) You must talk sweet to your car...I have people laugh at me, but it's true. If you take care of your car, she will take care of you. Insult her and belittle her, and you may be asking for trouble!

and yes, I completely and utterly heart my s70 t5. I have been driving her since I was 19-20, and she has never, EVER let me down.

it's cramped. it lags. i get power where/when i can't use it. the controls are stone age. handling (stock admittedly) is horrible. styling is unremarkable. the upholstery on the doors have the popped due to stretching (common with these).

side by side i'll take the S80 hands down every time. but i seem to the be the one that pays more for upgrading parts than repairs. perhaps i'm fortunate. i could have bought a different manufacture; but i have a crack volvo mechanic down the road that treats me right. so i bought the best car to my tastes from the most reputable source. the s70 is for a winter car - i should have bought a junker, but i thought i would get some joy out of it due to the 'overwhelming' positive endorsement of VS. clearly a mistake on my part.

but that doesn't mean other people can't like it or do remarkable things to it.

i just hate to see a pity party without a well rounded representation of dislikes.
