Zaitz
_DSC6745.jpg by KeysarPhoto, on Flickr The lighting in this one is great. Very simple and focused. Serge that city shot is great. You've taken a shot there before haven't you? That s-curve in the foreground works perfect. Practicing rim-lighting. Rim lighting is something I've been wanting to experiment with as well. Thank you I have shot there before, but never using the 7D.

The highlight on the front of the jacket/coat doesn't look natural. At any rate, I love me some rim lighting.
Zaitz
It was all natural. Here is the original:
gdizzle
Well, I stand corrected. The Transition from deep blacks to blown highlights is very severe so it looks post processed, eg blacks brought way up. Nice work Zach.
Zaitz
I had tried it a few times but never quite got it. I just got a 1/8" grid and I don't know if that did the trick. But it came out like that the first try so I was quite happy. With a snoot I couldn't get it. I've got a few ideas for downtown with a similar effect. Zaitz
I have to tell you I like the original more than the PP! Blasphemy! I had more reflection on the knife in my first edit but then changed it. I also made it more red in a new edit and like that one a lot more. The pink was too strong in the original for me too. I always carry 3 grids with me at all times. :)

CJones16
Great thread, love all the pictures There a book any one can recommend that would sort of teach me the basics of camera and setting up shots? Thank!

The wall was built so that I could pull the seamless white down in front of it. I ran out of paper this weekend though so all you see is an empty roll. _DSC7401.jpg by KeysarPhoto, on Flickr

JCviggen
A few I did recently.. Crazy Horse Paris. Bloody dark in there, ISO 6400 F2.8 .......most of them only publishable in the R forum though. A fashion thing in Paris as well Made several versions of this with different post-processing, not sure I like this the most but it was the first I clicked. This one just on my way back to the hotel after the Laureus awards, Abu Dhabi by night. Not particularly nice composition I just wanted a shot to remember the place and rested the cam on a bench that was standing there.
